Robert H. Riels

Funeral Services for Robert H. Riels, Jr., 74, will be held at 2:00 P.M., Saturday, December 12, 2020, at Feazel Chapel at First Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA, with Dr. Woods Watson officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery in West Monroe, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until service time on Saturday at the church. Due to COVID-19 restrictions, it is asked that you wear a mask and practice social distancing.

Robert H. Riels, Jr. was born November 28, 1946, in Tallulah, LA and passed away December 9, 2020, surrounded by his family.

Robert was raised in Bastrop, LA, by his father, Robert H Riels, Sr. and mother, Doris Cox Riels. Then he enlisted in the Navy and served for 4 years until he met and married his wife of 53 years, Sandra Hammett Riels. He had two daughters, Melissa Riels and Jana Trichel, and three grandchildren, Sydney Donald, Neely Donald, and Tyler Trichel. Bobby was the most loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and son. Bobby loved Friday nights in Rebel Stadium, watching the LSU Tigers on Saturdays, and the Saints on Sundays with his whole family.

Bobby was a locally known barber in West Monroe for over 50 years. He loved and enjoyed his job and made lifelong friends and memories along the way. To the loyal and faithful our family thanks you from the bottom of our hearts.

He is preceded in death by his father, Robert H Riels, Sr.; his mother, Doris Cox Riels; his brother-in-law, Gary Welch; and nephew, Shane Welch.

He is survived by his wife, Sandra Hammett Riels; his daughters, Melissa Riels and Jana Trichel; his grandchildren, Sydney Donald, Neely Donald, and Tyler Trichel; his sisters, Gail Welch and Melba Petty and husband Clifford Petty; and brother, Mike Riels and wife Elsie Riels.
