Funeral services for Shirley Duchesne Cullers, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM, Friday, March 23, 2018 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA. Interment will follow at Hall Cemetery, Richland Parish, LA.


Mrs. Cullers, born December 9, 1939, left peacefully in her sleep on March 19, 2018, at the age of 78. Shirley was a retired housekeeper, devoted wife, mother and Maw Maw to all she touched.

Mrs. Cullers was preceded in death by her father, Eugene Thompson; Moma and Daddy, Janie and Tom Bird; husband, Thomas Duchesne; daughter, Jan Davis and husband Neal Davis; sons-in-law, Marvin Hollis and Glen Cranford; brother, Wayne Bird; and sister-in-law, Patsy Thompson.

Left to carry on Shirley’s memory is her loving husband and soul mate, Ron Cullers; brother, Roy Thompson; daughters, Donna Owens (Chris), Kay Hollis (fiancé, Earnest King), and Michelle Duchesne; sons, Randy Smith (Rita), and Thomas Duchesne, II; and life-long friend, Beth Wiley. She is survived by her grandchildren, Jim Davis, Jennifer Jackson, Julie Green, Natasha Quintnilla, Eaan and Taylor Owens, Jade Foster, Jessica Bennett, Clint and Clayton Hollis, Dallas, Matthew and Jake Smith, Karen Marr, and Trey, Loretta, and Heather Duchesne. She is also survived by 33 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews; and other bonus children.

Pallbearers will be Stanley Johnson, Matthew Johnson, Chris Johnson, and Chad Johnson, Caleb Walker, and Larry Bennett.

Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Thursday, March 22, 2018, at the funeral home.
