Funeral services for Shirley Vivian Sampognaro , 76, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 PM Saturday, October 31, 2009 at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with MSGR Edmund Moore and Rev. Mark Watson officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery.
Mrs. Sampognaro passed away Thursday, October 29, 2009. She was a member of Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church. She and her husband, Joseph Vincent Sampognaro, who preceded her in death, were the former co-owners of Southside Drugs. She retired from Ouachita Parish School System as an Administrative Assistant. She was currently employed at Dr. Greg Sampognaro’s office as a cardiovascular stress lab technician, with many other family members.
She was also preceded in death by her son-in-law, Tim Bishop; sister, Marjorie Jones; and brother,Murray Hale.
Survivors include her daughter, Cindy Bishop; her sons, Joey Sampognaro and wife Kay of Trophy Club, TX and Chris Sampognaro and wife Cara of Monroe, LA; daughter, Kim Bruscato and husband Butch of Baton Rouge, LA; sisters, Marie Rushing and husband Harry of Monroe, LA, Betty Johnston and husband Alfred of Katy, TX, and Alice Hegwood Brooks of Monroe, LA; brother, Thomas Preston Hale of Monroe, LA;sister-in-law, Shirley Hale; grandchildren, Casey Bishop, Brooke Bishop and fiancé, Dustin Griggs, Amanda Sampognaro Volentine and husband Dustin, Corry Sampognaro, Noah Sampognaro, Daniel Sampognaro, Thomas Sampognaro, Gracie Bruscato, Guy Bruscato; great grandchild, Camryn Volentine, and brother-in-law, Johnny Sampognaro and wife Francis Sampognaro.
Pallbearers will be Keith Rushing, Tim Hegwood, Michael Sampognaro, John Sampognaro, Ronnie Johnston, and Murray Hale. Honorary pallbearers will be Dr. Charles Sampognaro, Dr. Mike Sampognaro, Dr. Greg Sampognaro, Vincent Sampognaro, Dr. Dave Sampognaro, and the employees of Dr. Greg Sampognaro’s office.
Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM Friday, October 30, 2009 with a Vigil Wake at 6:00 PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
