Thomas Joseph Coleman was born on August 19, 1953, in Monroe, LA, and passed away Tuesday, May 25, 2021, at Arbor Lake Nursing & Rehabilitation Center.

Tommy was the ninth of 11 children born to the union of Buddy Coleman and Ethel Coleman. Born of down syndrome, he beat all odds by surviving past the age of two. He was a very precious gift from God that we were blessed with. Anyone who was lucky enough to have known him was truly blessed. He was the family clown and was always trying to make people laugh. He gave unconditional love, and his smile would light up any room. He made the world a better place. He loved to “bang” on the piano, sing and listen to music. I feel so blessed to have this angel as our brother. He will always be in our hearts and his memories will be with us forever. Fly high brother, you are now complete.

Tommy was a participant with ARCO of Monroe before becoming a resident of GB Cooley. Ten years ago, he moved to Arbor Lake of Farmerville. The family would like to thank the entire staff of Arbor Lake for the love and care they provided to Tommy. Sherry, Kay, Amber, Vickie, Pam, Anua, Kayla, Liz, Gina, Jason, Charles (Rookie), Ms. Ethel, Brenda, Brandy, Mary, and Dontel are just a few of the staff that have become family during Tommy’s years at Arbor Lake. There are many more, way to many to remember, that we are so thankful for their love, kindness and attention they gave to Tommy “Tom-Tom.” He was well taken care of but more importantly he was just as loved as he was cared for. We thank you all!

Mr. Coleman was preceded in death by his father Buddy Coleman; mother, Ethel Coleman; brother, Tommy Hebert and sister, Faye Roberts.

Survivors include his sisters, Cecilia Pierot (Lee), Jody Meinert (Tom), Audrey Link, Nore Eppinette, Kathy Peach, Sylvia Henderson (Donald); brothers, Junior Coleman, Joe Coleman (Devona); as well as lots of nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Donald Henderson, Alan Fortin, Jason Coleman, Philip Pierot, Billy Beckham, and Mike Pierot.

The family would also like to extend their thanks to Professional Hospice Care of Ruston. Thanks to Amanda, Trish, and Steve for all the care and support.
