Memorial services for Mrs. Vera Petty Howell will be at 11:00 AM Friday, July 27, 2007 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church with The Reverand Walter J. Baer officiating. Services are under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe.
Vera Petty Howell died on July 23, 2007. She was 85. Vera was born in Waverly, Tennessee in 1921. She was the youngest of nine children. Vera moved to Monroe, Louisiana in 1942, where she lived the rest of her life. Vera married M.R. Howell in 1948 and had one child, Sally Howell Gonzalez. Vera's life-long enthusiasm centered around her family, friends, neighbors and her church, St. Thomas Episcopal Church. Her wit, kindness and sense of humor will be missed by all.
Vera is survived by her son-in-law, Romualdo Gonzalez, Jr., grandson Pablo Gonzalez, grandson Romualdo Gonzalez, III his wife, Michelle, and their son, Vera's great grandson, Max Gonzalez.
Visitation will be Friday from 10:00 AM until service time at St. Thomas Episcopal Church.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that all donations be given to either St. Thomas Episcopal Church or the Rt. Rev. Romualdo Gonzalez Scholarship Fund for Episcopal priests at the University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee.
