Funeral services for Mrs. Vera Tilley Finley, 101, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday, October 30, 2007, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, with Rev. Charles Headrick officiating. Interment will follow in Hasley Cemetery, West Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Finley died Sunday, October 28, 2007, at St. Joseph Nursing Home in Monroe, LA. She was a loving wife, sister, and aunt. She was a member of College Place Baptist Church of Monroe. She was a dear friend to all who knew her. Mrs. Finley was preceded in death by her husband, E. C. Finley; parents, William L and Maude Harkness Tilley; three brothers, and three sisters. Born in Bienville Parish, LA on January 28, 1906, she was the last of her generation.
Survivors include a niece, Mrs. Betty Richardson Trimble; a nephew, Larry M. Tilley; a host of great nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friend and caretaker, Mrs. Deloris Hill.
Pallbearers will be Marvin McConnell, Charles Chambers, Terry Finley, E. S. Gibbs, George McGuffie, and A. D. Foreman.
Visitation will be Tuesday from 12:00 Noon until service time at Mulhearn Funeral Home.
A special thanks to the personnel of St. Joseph’s Nursing Home for the many kindnesses shown to the Tilley family over the past twenty-five years, and to Hospice Care of Louisiana for their compassionate care of Mrs. Finley in her last months.
