A Celebration of Life for Mr. Victor L. “Butch” Tolbird, 69, of West Monroe, LA will be 10:00 AM Tuesday, July 27, 2010 at Peniel Baptist Church with Rev. Eddy Shoemaker and Rev. Charles Davis officiating. Interment will follow at Walnut Grove Cemetery.

Butch was born November 17, 1940 in Eros, LA and went to be with his Lord and Savior on July 25, 2010 after a lengthy illness. Butch served in the United States Army from 1966-1968, where he was deployed to Vietnam from 1967-1968 with the 4th Infantry Division. He worked at Bancroft Bag from 1981 until he retired in 2004. He was a member of the Grand Lodge of LA, Cadeville # 229. Butch loved working with his hands, gardening, hunting, fishing, and spending time with his family, and was a member of Peniel Baptist Church.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Donald and Violet Tolbird; grandparents, Jessie and Sallie Crockett, James Calvin and Alda Tolbird; and father-in-law, Louis Marion Spikes.

Butch is survived by his loving wife, Marilyn of 48 years, three children, Vicki Beckley and husband Austin, of Newnan, GA, Chris Tolbird and wife Jodie of West Monroe, and Leigh Ann Bielkiewicz and husband Scott of Calhoun; seven grandchildren, Lindsey and Emily Beckley, Dakota Meador and Savannah Tolbird, Zak, Jayden and Emma Bielkiewicz; two sisters, Linda Farmer of Spring, TX, and Karen Calderwood and husband Gary of Winston, OR; mother-in-law, Nellie Spikes of West Monroe; and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and a host of special friends.

Pallbearers will be Max Tolbird, Steve Snipes, Dewayne Saterfiel, Charlie Saterfiel, Dakota Meador, and Barry Humphrey. Honorary Pallbearers will be David Vestal, Bo Hicks, Herbert Saterfiel, Ray Scharf, and Charles Hatten’s Sunday School Class.

Visitation will be from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM Monday, July 26, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to the Gideon’s International or the American Kidney Foundation.
