Wanda Passman McGuffee

Funeral services for Wanda Passman McGuffee, 83, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 3:00 PM, Sunday, April 15, 2018, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Road, Monroe, LA, with Dr. Bill Dye, Rev. Warren Eckhardt, Scotty Swillie, Austin Pilgreen and Dr. Bryant Barnes officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum. Visitation will be 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM, Saturday, April 14, 2018, at the funeral home.

Mrs. McGuffee was born September 4, 1934, in Manifest, LA, and passed away on April 13, 2018, in Monroe, LA. Wanda was an active member of North Monroe Baptist Church and the Standifer Life Group Sunday School Class. She was also a former member of College Place Baptist Church. Wanda attended Sicily Island High School and was an Allstar Basketball Player. She later attended nursing school in Natchez, MS, and worked for her brother, Dr. Charlie Passman. Wanda married George McGuffee June 4, 1955, in Sicily Island. She loved spending time outdoors and tending to her flowers. Her favorite pastime was spending time with her grandchildren and family. One of her best qualities and special gifts was that she was very giving by nature.

Mrs. McGuffee was preceded in death by her parents, John Carl Passman and Nina Stringer Passman; brother, Dr. Charlie Passman; and sisters, Maudell Oliphant and Monez Fontenot.

Survivors include her husband of 62 years, George McGuffee; children, Georganne Swillie and husband Scotty, and Suzonne Whedbee; brother, Dr. Carl Passman and wife Marcia; grandchildren, Stephanie Durham and husband Matt, Ashley Taber and husband Tim, Austin Pilgreen and wife Sara, Emily Swillie, Blake Pilgreen, and Casey Pilgreen; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Swillie, Austin Pilgreen, Casey Pilgreen, Matt Durham, Tim Taber, and Morgan Passman.

Memorials may be made to North Monroe Baptist Church Building Fund.
