Services for William P.“Bill” Griggs, 86, of West Monroe will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday April 28, 2010 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe with Rev. Bo Hearne and Rev. Rick Crandall officiating. Burial will be in Zoar Cemetery in Chatham, LA.

Mr. Griggs was born March 1, 1924 in Chatham, Louisiana and passed away April 26, 2010 at Glenwood Regional Medical Center after a lengthy illness. Mr. Griggs was a 32nd degree mason of the J.C. Stewart Masonic Lodge #460 in West Monroe. He was a past master of the lodge and most recently served as secretary. Throughout his life, he worked as a quality control operator at Olin Kraft, an agent for Common Wealth Life Insurance, and a mechanic for Louisiana Machinery. Mr. Griggs was a member of The General Barton & Stovall History/Heritage Association. He enjoyed family reunions, touring confederate and historic sites, and studying his family genealogy. He always enjoyed any occasion to spend time with his immediate and extended family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Cowart Griggs; brothers, Richard B. Griggs, and Harold G. Griggs.

Survivors include his children, Lynne Frost and husband Dean of West Monroe, Debra McKnight of West Monroe, Bette Waldroup and husband, Lloyd of Calhoun, brother, Jesse Griggs and wife, Reva of Houston, TX, grandchildren, Michele Roberts and husband, Avery, Nicole Clark and husband, Brad, Corey McKnight, Jacob Wood, Jordan Waldroup, great-grandchildren, Kyle, Kaden, Mason, and Caleb, many nieces and nephews, and a host of friends.

Pallbearers are Kyle Johnson, Caleb Soignier, Corey McKnight, Wade Bishop, Mickey Evans, and Ralph Owens.

Honorary pallbearers are the members of the J.C. Stewart Masonic Lodge #460.

Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Tuesday, April 27, 2010 at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA
