Private family memorial service for Mr. William Rex Mathieu, 92, of Monroe, LA, will be held on Wednesday October 14, 2020, with Deacon Scott Brandle officiating. Entombment will be in Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.
Mr. Mathieu was born on October 15, 1927, in David City, NE and passed away on October 10, 2020, in Monroe. He was an Army veteran of WWII. Mr. Mathieu was the founder of Louisiana Business College and in 1973 he opened Cloyd’s Beauty School, where he worked up until his retirement in 1995. He loved to hunt, deep sea fish, and most of all spend time with his family.
He will see in heaven his wife of 69 years, Bobbie Elizabeth Gregory Mathieu; his parents; Robert H. and Anna Emma Svitak Mathieu; infant daughter, Bobbie Mathieu; granddaughter, Jamie Leigh McTurner Freeman; and two brothers.
Survivors include his daughter, Kim Mathieu McTurner; sons, Rex Mathieu, Jr. and Rhett Mathieu and wife Tina; grandchildren, Matt McTurner and wife Ashley, Kacie Brown and husband Ryan, Kelsie Haynes and husband Clayton, and Matt McGuffee and wife Mary Kathryn; great grandchildren, Bailee and “JB” John Bennet Blunschi, Lauren Benne’ Bratton, River and Allie Rain McTurner, Vincent Haynes, Scarlett McGuffee, Remy Mathieu Brown, and Molly McGuffee; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to the Ouachita Council on Aging.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dad’s caregivers, Sally Castaneda, Donna Sherrill, Brittany Trent, Angela Powell, and Amy Freeman.
