On December 17, 2025, Alfred Ernest LeBrun (“Al”) passed away peacefully after a long and full life defined by family, faith, service, and quiet devotion. Although he was born on August 3, 1933, in Camden, Arkansas, Al made his home in West Monroe, Louisiana, where he and his wife raised their family.
He was the son of Clarence LeBrun, a plant manager for International Paper, and Agnes LeBrun (née Stauber), a teacher and homemaker. Al was raised alongside his older brothers, Clarence LeBrun, Jr. (“Junior”) and Richard LeBrun (“Dick”), his older sister, Phyllis Ann LeBrun, and his younger sister, Mary Agnes LeBrun. He was preceded in death by all of his siblings.
Al graduated from Camden High School, attended Arkansas Tech University, and earned his degree in mathematics from Louisiana Tech University, reflecting a sharp, analytical mind that served him well throughout his life.
In the 1950s, Al proudly served his country in the United States Air Force, attaining the rank of Airman First Class. He was stationed in Frankfurt, Germany, where he worked within the Air Force’s intelligence community, an experience that shaped both his discipline and his worldview.
Following his military service, Al built a long and respected career in the forest products industry. He worked for Riverwood for nearly 35 years, later continuing his career with Temple-Inland before retiring in 2000. His work ethic was steady and reliable, marked more by consistency than by self-promotion.
Al was an avid and dedicated golfer, a pursuit that brought him great joy throughout his life. He was a member of Highland Country Club, Pine Hills Country Club, and most recently Calvert Crossing Country Club, where he enjoyed both the game and the camaraderie that came with it.
Equally central to Al’s life was his Catholic faith. He was deeply involved at St. Paschal’s Catholic Church in West Monroe, serving as an usher, lector, choir member, and tireless supporter of church fundraising efforts. He was also a long-standing and committed member of the Knights of Columbus, giving generously of his time and energy to the church community.
In 1956, Al married the love of his life, Bette Jo LeBrun (née Watson). Together they shared 61 years of marriage until her passing in 2019. Their bond was enduring, and his love for her never diminished, even after her death.
Al and Bette raised their family in D’Arbonne Hills Subdivision in West Monroe and were the proud parents of four children:
He was the proud grandfather of Caitlin Fuller (fiancé, Mat Ward) of West Monroe; Jeffrey Fuller (wife Lacey, nee Hanemann) of Smyrna, Tennessee; Josh Fuller of West Monroe; Matthew LeBrun of Dallas, Texas; Margaret LeBrun of Houston, Texas; Anna LeBrun Hudson (husband J.C. Hudson) of Olive Branch, Mississippi; Adam LeBrun and Alexander LeBrun of Marietta, Georgia. He was also blessed with one great-grandchild, Lincoln and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 20, from 11:00AM until 12:30PM at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Funeral Services will follow at 1:00PM. at St. Paschal Catholic Church, with interment immediately afterward at St. Paschal’s Catholic Cemetery, West Monroe.
Pallbearers will be Jeffrey Fuller, Josh Fuller, Matthew LeBrun, J.C. Hudson, Mat Ward, Rick LeBrun, Raymond LeBrun, and Norman LeBrun. Honorary pallbearers will be Stephen LeBrun, Joe LeBrun, Adam LeBrun, and Alex LeBrun.
Memorials may be made to the St. Paschal Building Fund or St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
