Memorial services celebrating the life of Andrew “Andy” Leyden Bishop, 62, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held 10:00 A.M., Saturday, August 22nd, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe. A family interment will be held at Zoar Cemetery, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of West Monroe.

The visitation will be held from 9:00 A.M. until the time of service.

Andy Bishop was born in Birmingham, Alabama, on July 16, 1964. In 1969, his family relocated to West Monroe, Louisiana, where Andy would make his home, build lifelong friendships, raise his two sons, and create a lifetime of cherished memories.

A hardworking man by nature, Andy learned the value of dedication and perseverance from his father, Jerry, lessons he proudly carried throughout his life and passed along to his sons, Chris and Michael. He worked at the regional State Farm office in Monroe until its relocation and later devoted twenty-two years to Mail Routing Services (MRS), where his strong work ethic and dependability were hallmarks of his career.

Andy was, above all, a man who believed in being there for others. He was often the first to offer a helping hand and the last to ask for one himself. Genuine and unapologetically true to who he was, Andy wore his heart on his sleeve and considered his capacity to love deeply one of his greatest strengths. He was fiercely loyal to his family, his friends, and his country, and those fortunate enough to know him never had to wonder where they stood with him.

Andy also possessed a wonderful sense of humor and delighted in making others laugh. He treasured a good conversation with the people he loved and could always find time to cheer on his beloved Alabama Crimson Tide. Roll Tide!

His devotion to his father and his country was reflected in his involvement with Sons of AMVETS Post 66 of Monroe, Louisiana. In his later years, this community became an important part of Andy’s life, providing opportunities for fellowship, fundraising, and charitable service. He was especially well known for cooking a great steak during their steak-night fundraisers—a role he performed with the same enthusiasm and pride he brought to everything he cared about.

But no accomplishment or friendship meant more to Andy than being a father. He was immensely proud of his two sons, Chris and Michael, and their successes were his successes. Andy was the devoted father who never missed a band concert, graduation, or any opportunity to proudly brag on his boys. He taught them, by both words and example, to be kind, hardworking, loyal, and true to themselves. The values he instilled in them will remain a lasting part of his legacy.

Until his final day, Andy Bishop remained exactly who he had always been: a proud father, a loyal friend, a devoted son and brother, and a champion for the people he loved. His absence will be deeply felt, and the lessons he taught, the laughter he shared, and the love he gave so freely will live on in all who were blessed to know him."

Andy is survived by his mother, Mary Virginia Bishop of West Monroe; his brothers, Wade Bishop and wife Kay of West Monroe, and George Michael Bishop of Atlanta, Georgia; his sons, Christopher Leyden Bishop and Michael Patrick Bishop of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; his niece, Ashley Walker and husband Kyle of West Monroe; and his nephew, Jason Bishop and wife Britany of West Monroe. He also leaves behind a loving network of family and friends whom he cherished deeply and who will forever carry his memory in their hearts.
