A graveside service for Barbara Jeanette Harper, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Friday, June 14, 2024, at Rayville Masonic Cemetery in Rayville, LA, with Chaplin Jayme Hawthorne officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA.
Mrs. Harper was born July 16, 1935, and passed away June 10, 2024, at her home. She enjoyed her occupation as a realtor and broker in Ouachita Parish for many years. She loved watercolor painting, sewing draperies, and gardening. She married her first love, and they were happily married for 47 years. She had three children
Mrs. Harper was preceded in death by her husband, A.D. Harper, Jr. (Dee); parents, Isaam and Estelle Smith; son, Buddy Harper; brothers, Horace and Curtis Smith; grandchildren, Barbara Marie Harper, James Ellington, Joan Annette Ellington Speed, and son-in-law, Larry Scheppf.
Survivors include her daughters, Jeanette Harper Ellington and husband Rickey, and Brenda Harper Scheppf; daughter-in-law, Gloria Harper; grandchildren; grandson-in-law, Jeff Speed, Lisa Ellington Madden and husband Ryan, Jenny Ellington Hendricks and husband Vic, Jennifer Anne Harper Hudak and husband Robert Joseph, Steve Harper and wife Rachel, and Brooks Scheppf and wife Cara, Brittany Scheppf White and husband Chris; great grandchildren, Hayden Speed and wife Morgan, Bailey Speed and wife Danielle, Mamie Hendricks, Bruin Henricks, Charles Harper Hudak, Holland Harper, Hudson Harper, Barron Scheppf, Evalee Scheppf, Harper Scheppf, Brock Scheppf , and Noah White; great great grandchild, Ellington (Ellie) Harper Sims Speed; and siblings, Rowena Williamson, Wilma Hales, and Charlotte Bergeron; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
The family wishes to give heartfelt gratitude and appreciation to Elara Hospice for their caring and professional support from the entire staff during Barbara’s illness. A special thank you to her circle of friends from church and her neighbor, Bobbie Foy, for all her many kindnesses and friendship.
