Janet grew up in Ringgold, Louisiana, attended Northwestern State University and thereafter worked in Shreveport and New Orleans before moving to West Monroe, where she met and married the love of her life, James A. She organized and became President of the Ouachita Alzheimer's Association and spent hours dedicating her time and energy to that organization. Janet was a faithful follower of our Lord Jesus Christ, had a deep faith in God and enjoyed studying and sharing scripture. She was a member of McGuire Methodist Church for years and was actively involved in church projects and activities. Janet was preceded in death by her husband, James A. Hobbs; by her father and mother, Henry Seward Tooke and Virgie Corley Tooke; as well as her only sibling, James H. Tooke.

Janet is survived by her nephew, Mark H. Tooke and his wife, Pamela; by her great nieces, Amber C. Tooke and her husband, Ben Manahan; Janet Ann Tooke; and Meghan Tooke Kavanaugh and her husband, Kyle; and numerous cousins. Janet is also survived by her special friends, Mary Ann and Richard Norman, who looked after her and provided care for Janet during the years of her last illness, and by her best friend and long-time travel companion, Beverly Hart. Janet is also survived by her special friend and care provider, Glenda Dubose, who for the past nine years was a constant companion of Janet, taking care of all of Janet's needs.
