Basil Ray Fuller, born on December 20, 1944, and peacefully passed away at his home in West Monroe, LA, on October 31, 2023, surrounded by his loving family, including his wife, children, brothers, numerous friends, and his faithful dog, Lucy.

Basil was a devoted member of the Community of Christ Church, where his faith in God and family held a special place in his heart. As a retired truck driver, he formed friendships across the United States and could guide you to the most beautiful destinations in the country. He had a passion for making the most amazing wines and jellies, especially mayhaw jelly, and blackberry wine. Most importantly, he was an active and loving father and grandfather, leaving a lasting impact on his daughters and grandchildren, who learned from him the values of love, respect, family values, and compassion.

His life's most important lesson was to treat everyone with respect and dignity, as he believed that in God's eyes, all are created equal.

Basil's family extends a special thank you to the exceptional doctors, nurses, and technicians at MD Anderson Cancer Hospital, particularly Simon, Mario, and Bridget.  Your exceptional care for our loved one will always be in our hearts.

Survivors include his loving wife, Donna Fuller; his daughters, Lisa Grande, Donna Thompson, and husband, David, Betty Jo Fuller Birdsong, and husband, Brian, Rachel Franks, and husband, David, Rachel Fuller-Rizk, and husband, Tony, Linda Dampier, Shela Austin, and Erin Finlay; 19 grandchildren; 27 great grandchildren; 1 great-great grandchild; and brothers, Terry Fuller and Glen Fuller.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Rayville Fletcher Fuller and Laura White Kennison Fuller; his daughter, Pat Austin; and his brother, Phillip Fuller.

The pallbearers for his service will be his grandsons, Cody Granda, Jordan Whitehead, Nick Rizk, George Rizk, Alex Rizk, and Ben Rizk.

Honorary pallbearers include Boone Brantley, Jr., Gary Thomas, Jack Bouvier, Sam Willoughby, Mike Shanberry, and Greg Rogers.

In lieu of flowers, Basil's wish was for donations to be made to his church, the Community of Christ. He also asks that blood or platelets be donated to the local blood centers where you live to aid cancer patients in need.

His final request to his daughter, Betty Jo, was to continue their tradition of taking selfie pictures. Whenever you see her in the future, take a selfie and remind her that her Daddy will always be there in spirit.
