Funeral services celebrating the life of Benjamin “Benny” Franklin Tannehill, 80, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 2:00 P.M., Tuesday, August 25th, 2026, at Cowboy Crossroads Church with Rev. Vince Roussin officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe.

The visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until the time of service.

Benny was born on July 20th, 1946, in Rayville, Louisiana and passed away at his residence on August 22nd, 2026.

Benny was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was guided by a deep love for sports and an even deeper love for his family. From childhood on, he played every sport he could, carrying that passion throughout his life. For more than twenty years, he coached youth baseball and basketball, shaping young athletes with encouragement, discipline, and joy. Over three decades, he officiated football, basketball, and baseball, earning respect for his fairness, dedication, and steady presence on the field.

What mattered most to Benny were the people he loved. He never missed a chance to cheer on his children and grandchildren, faithfully attending dance competitions, cheer events, barrel races, playdays, and bull riding. His pride in them was unwavering, and his love was fierce.

Benny also served as an elder and founding member of Crossroads Cowboy Church, where his faith and commitment helped build a community he cherished.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Benjamin Franklin Tannehill and Allie Mae Stephenson Tannehill; and sister, Nancy “Janie” Tannehill.

Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Dorothy Hays Tannehill; children, Jeff Tannehill (Nicole), Chad Tannehill (Bridgette), Amanda Tannehill Stott (Bryce), and Ben Tannehill (Lauren); grandchildren, Gunter Tannehill, Grace Tannehill, Natalie Tannehill, Landry Tannehill, Brayden Tannehill, Remi Tannehill, Ryder Tannehill, Landon Stott, and Ellis Stott; brother, Freddie Tannehill; as well as many loved ones and friends.

The pallbearers will be Gunter Tannehill, Brayden Tannehill, Andy Stephenson, Jeffery Stephenson, Brandon Stephenson, and Randy Russell.

The honorary pallbearers will be Pat Dayton, Dickie Jackson, and John Tannehill.

He leaves behind a legacy of devotion, service, and wholehearted love that will be remembered always.
