Visitation will be held at 10:00am leading up to service time.
Betty was born on January 10, 1940, and passed away on October 25, 2026.
While living in Ruston, Betty and her husband, Gerald Butler Hampton, were active members of Emmanuel Baptist Church. After moving to West Monroe to be closer to family, they became members of Fair Park Baptist Church and enjoyed attending services when their health allowed. Their faith and church families remained an important part of their lives.
One of Betty’s greatest joys was being “Mawmaw.” She loved attending her grandchildren’s school activities, cheerleading events, and sporting events. No matter who was participating, Mawmaw was always certain that her grandchild was the most talented.
Betty’s table was a place where family gathered, stories were shared, and no one left hungry. She especially enjoyed serving holiday dinners and preparing late-night meals after Louisiana Tech football games, which almost always included her famous gumbo. She also loved a good road trip, especially when the road led to Branson, Missouri, or to New Orleans for a cruise.
Betty loved caring for her family and putting their needs always before her own. She was a simple lady who enjoyed eating fresh vegetables from a garden, listening to gospel and country music, playing cords on her piano, and watching hummingbirds on her back patio.
Betty was preceded in death by her beloved husband of nearly 67 years, Gerald Butler Hampton, who passed away just four months before her. She was also preceded in death by her parents, Russell A. Ainsworth and Annie Lois Ainsworth.
Left to cherish her memory are her sons, Mark Hampton and wife Bonnie, and Gary Hampton and wife Joan; her daughter, Paula Aultman and husband Donnie; her grandchildren, Jacob Hampton, Brooke Hampton, Cassidy Little and husband Peyton, Laken Drake and husband Justin, Tori Hampton, Hunter Tyler, Reece Aultman and wife Vivian, Holden Aultman, and Brodie Aultman; and her great-grandchildren, Ari Drake, Caden Drake, and Noah Aultman.
She is also survived by her siblings, Louise Ballentine, Ronnie Ainsworth and wife Nellie, Shirley Creech and husband Andrew, James Ainsworth, Wanda Kay Bogle and husband Billy, and Bobby Ainsworth and wife Tammy, and half-sister Barbara Johns.
Pallbearers will be Reece Aultman, Holden Aultman, Brodie Aultman, Hunter Tyler, Justin Drake, Peyton Little, and David Bruce.
The family extends its heartfelt appreciation to Dr. Johnathan Baines of Ruston, Dr. Benjamin Weinberger of Monroe, Acadian Ambulance, the neurology staff at Ochsner LSU Health Shreveport, and St. Francis Medical Center for the compassionate care they provided to Betty through the years and during her final days.
