Obituary

Funeral services for Mrs. Betty Jean Whitten McHenry, 84, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:30 A.M. Friday, June 19, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10:30 A.M. until service time Friday, June 19, 2026, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Monroe.

Mrs. McHenry was born in Start, LA, on August 27, 1941, and passed away in Rayville, LA, on June 17, 2026. She was a member of North Monroe Baptist church and worked for many years as a receptionist as well as coordinator of candy stripers at St. Francis Medical Center.

She was preceded in death by parents, Davie Leon Whitten and Mary Emily Morris Whitten; husband, Joseph Doyle “Mac” McHenry; and son, Chris McHenry.

Survivors include her siblings, Freddie Whitten, Thomas Leon “Sonny” Whitten, Roma “Joe” Whitten, Doris Jones, Dennis Michael “Mickey” Whitten and wife, Lillian, Henrietta Wooten, and Gladys Whitten Bartleson and husband Jerry; daughter, Diane Davis; grandchildren, Ryan McHenry (Ericka), Daniel McHenry, Matthew McHenry (Demi), Brianna Priest (Dustin), McKenzie (Garret), Haleigh Davis and Larry Norris; eleven great grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers will be Billy Bruce, Paul Bartleson, Eric Whitten, Scott Wooten, Clay Whitten, Jonathan Whitten, Mason Montgomery, Pat Weatherford, Charlie Cason, Timmy Doersam, Jacob Cordill, Jackson Cordill and Harrison Whitten.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to North Monroe Baptist Church or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
