Funeral services for Mrs. Betty LaDon Schmittzehe, 94, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 3:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church in Monroe, with Rev. Peter Mallya officiating, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe. Interment will be at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until 2:45 P.M. on Sunday, August 16, 2026, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe.
Mrs. Schmittzehe was born on May 13, 1932, in Gordonville, MO, and passed away August 13, 2026, in Monroe, LA. She was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church.
Betty enjoyed playing bingo at the Ouachita Parish Senior Center, and the many friends she made there.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Emma Bodenstein; and sister, Shirley Kincaid.
Survivors include her husband, Clarence Schmittzehe; children, Jackie Steed, Steve Schmittzehe, David Schmittzehe, Deborah Joyner, and Sharon Schmittzehe; grandchildren, Jennifer Dunn, James Joyner III, and Jillian Joyner; great grandchildren, Sam Lawing, Shelby Lawing, James Joyner IV, and Wyatt Creech-Joyner; and sister, Delores Strap.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
