Mr. Sanders was born on May 7, 1933, in Jigger, Louisiana and passed peacefully on September 6, 2026, at his residence.

Billy was a loving husband, devoted family man, and faithful servant of the Lord. He married the love of his life, Joy Elizabeth Wiggers, on March 10, 1952, and together they shared thirty-three wonderful years of marriage.

Billy was a dedicated member and deacon of Temple Baptist Church. Before retirement, he worked as a farmer, a life he took great pride in. He especially enjoyed hunting, fishing, and running dogs. For nearly 30 years, Glascock Island Hunting Club was a special place where he made many cherished memories and enjoyed one of his greatest passions.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joy Wiggers Sanders; father, Clarence Sanders; mother, Margaret Sanders; sister, Adrena Bass; brother-in-law, Scott M. Wiggers, Sr.; and his second wife, Jerri Sanders.

Those left to cherish his memory are his daughter, Gail Smith (Chuck); son, Mark Sanders; grandchildren, Erin O’Neal (Jesse)Eric Smith, Justin Sanders (Brandi); great grandchildren, Emmitt Sanders and Jesse Ray O’Neal; brother-in-law, Bonner Wiggers (Barbara); four stepchildren, numerous nieces, and nephews.

The family would also like to thank Tom Colvin, Hospice TLC, and his devoted caregivers, Jeannie Gallagher, and all the other caregivers who provided care during his final days.

Honorary pallbearers were Bill Clark, Don Armstrong, Marlin Valentine, and Donnie Smith.
