Funeral service for Mr. Bobby James Hitt, 91, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00PM Sunday, November 9, 2025, in the chapel of Rollers-Farmers Union Funeral Home in Jonesboro, AR, with Rev. Maurice L. Hitt officiating. Interment will follow in Keller’s Chapel Cemetery in Jonesboro, AR. Visitation will be from 1:00PM Sunday, November 9, 2025, until service time at the funeral home.
Mr. Hitt was born on September 5, 1934, in Harrisburg, AR, and passed away on November 2, 2025, in Monroe.
Bobby graduated from Nettleton High School in Jonesboro, AR, in 1952. He worked as a radio telegrapher on the Railroad for two years before joining the Navy. While in the Navy, he attended Radioman’s and Submarine School. He served honorably for five years aboard a submarine as a radio operator. After his service he became a transportation manager for Howard Brothers head quartered in Monroe. Bobby had become a licensed preacher as a young man and all through his years of service and work he spread the gospel and shared his faith to anyone that would listen. He was a member and Deacon of Parkview Baptist Church in Monroe and Gideon’s International. As a Gideon, Deacon, Sunday School Teacher and grief counselor, he impacted many lives. On April 10, 1999, he married Sara Holman of Jonesboro, AR, and enjoyed twenty-six years of marriage before his death. His love of God and family, along with his gentleness and handsome smile will be missed until we see him again.
Mr. Hitt was preceded in death by his parents, Levi and Maurice (Donel) Hitt; brother, Levi Howard Hitt; first wife, Virginia Ann Hitt.
Survivors include his wife, Sara L. Hitt; son, Timothy Hitt and wife Robin; grandchildren, Mia, Scarlett, Connor, and Tyler; daughter, Faith Marx and husband Daryl; grandchildren, Matthew and Nicholas and his fiancé, Sadie Ragusa; brothers, Curtis Wayne Hitt, Tommy E. Hitt, Maurice L. Hitt, and Kenneth Barry Hitt; sister, Evelyn Janet Hitt.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Hitt, Daryl Marx, Curtis Wayne Hitt, Tommy E. Hitt, Kenneth Barry Hitt, and Maurice L. Hitt.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Craig Turner, Shelby Vascocu, Azalea Estates of Monroe, Allegiance Hospice, and Vonda’s Always Care.
