Funeral services for Bruce Dale Carter, Jr., 46, of Ruston, LA, will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, May 15, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, LA, with Rev. Bob Deich officiating. Entombment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum in Monroe. Visitation will be held from 12:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home in Monroe.
Mr. Carter was born on August 25, 1979, in Monroe, LA. He was a member of Grace Methodist Church in Ruston, LA, Choudrant Lodge No. 339, F. & A.M.
Bruce was a man of faith who went home to be with the Lord on May 10, 2026, after suffering a heart attack. He graduated from Cedar Creek High School in 1998 and from Southern Arkansas University in Magnolia, Arkansas, in 2004. Later that same year, his life was changed by a farming accident, and though it brought lasting challenges, Bruce faced them with remarkable physical toughness, mental fortitude, and perseverance – qualities that inspired everyone who knew him.
Above all, Bruce was a devoted father who treasured every moment with his son, Reynolds. He loved hunting, fishing, and cheering his beloved LSU Tigers, and he had a gift for playing pranks and making friends wherever he went – he never met a stranger.
Bruce was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Gay Carter.
Survivors include his father, Bruce Dale Carter, Sr.; his son, Reynolds Thomason Carter; his sister, Tracy Leigh (Cobb) Mitchell and her husband, Robert; his brother, Mathew Hayes Carter and his wife, Paige; his niece, Abby Jo Carter; and his nephew, Briggs Hayes Carter.
Serving as pallbearers will be T.J. Doss, John Cook, Greg Terzia, Billy Davis, Kirt Junker, and Mickey Lowe. The honorary pallbearer will be Don Cochern.
