Carl Parker was born on July 14, 1942. He grew up in Crowville and resided in Monroe throughout his adult life. He passed away on October 16, 2025, attended to by family. There is a light that is missing in this world with the loss of Mr. Carl. We take comfort in knowing his light is now shining bright as ever as he is reunited with his loving wife, Jean, and his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Carl Parker was an extraordinary human being.
If asked, “out of all the people you know, who lives the most Christ-inspired life?” It is safe to say that most who knew him would quickly answer, Carl Parker. He was a good and faithful servant of the Lord.
Born into poverty and harsh circumstances, Carl achieved a humble greatness few ever attain. He was a hard-working, self-made man who was wealthy beyond measure. This is because he measured his wealth only in what he treasured: unquestioned faith, boundless love for family, unequaled friendship with others, and honesty and integrity in everything he did.
Carl Parker made a lasting impact on everyone he met. After your very first interaction with Mr. Carl, you knew there was something very special about this man. He had a gentle nature, warm smile, and lighthearted sense of humor. Mr. Carl was well known for his playful personality. He could help any shy child to come out of their shell, immediately bond with a stranger, or remind a friend of a special memory through an inside joke. He had the unmatched ability to make anyone smile and feel better. The only people who were not his friends were those who had not yet met him.
Mr. Carl was a lifelong member of New Light Baptist Church. He served there as a Deacon for over fifty years. He also served on the Board of Trustees, as Chairman of the Deacons, Building and grounds Committee, and Finance Committee, Sunday School Superintendent, Planning Committee, Search Committee, mowed the grounds, turned on the heat or AC on Sunday mornings, kept up the cemetery, and often drove the church van. He quietly and tirelessly attended to the elderly and needy of his community. He also served as Cubmaster for Cub Scout Pack 210.
Carl was a wise and capable man. If he could not fix “it”, then it needed to be replaced. He was continuously called upon for advice and counsel. Patiently, he would listen and was thoughtful with his words. In every social or professional setting, “Mr. Carl” was respected and revered. In his professional life, Carl served in the United States Air Force, worked for and delivered Borden’s milk, delivered for Merchants Meat Company, managed Music Mountain Spring Water, and managed Magnolia Oil Company. Later in life, he became a pipe fitter and worked on nuclear plants throughout the country.
Carl is now reunited with his loving wife of sixty years, Jean. Together, they built a life filled with love and happiness. The door to their welcoming home was always open for large family gatherings or to anyone dropping by for great conversation and a cup of coffee. The wonderful memories of all who shared or entered their home are countless. As a father, Carl was an incredible role model, teacher, mentor, advisor, confidant, and best friend. He was tolerant and forgiving. Time spent with Carl was always enjoyable and memorable. If you were fortunate enough to be with him when he read his bible each night, he would read it aloud to you.
Carl was an exemplary son, brother, husband, father, Papaw, and Great-Papaw to his very large family.
Mr. Parker was preceded in death by his wife of sixty years, Billie “Jean” (Graham) Parker; parents, Hardy Parker and M.A. Parker; siblings, Leora Keene, “Buddy” Parker, Geraldine Reynolds, Ban Earl Parker, Jeanetta Ingram, Madge Pierce, Dorothy Parker, Carolyn Hightower, Ann Williams, and Wayne Parker .
