Carolyn was born on July 27, 1939, in West Monroe, Louisiana and passed away peacefully on December 29, 2025, in Denton, Texas.
She was married to the love of her life for 65 beautiful years, a partnership marked by devotion and friendship.
A gifted homemaker, Carolyn poured her heart into creating a home filled with warmth, comfort, and welcome. Her kitchen was a gathering place, her table a symbol of generosity, and her presence the steady center of her family’s world.
Carolyn’s love for the Lord shone brightly in everything she did. She found great joy in singing praises, and for several years she lifted her voice in the Spring Serenade at the Monroe Civic Center. Her songs were more than melodies they were offerings of gratitude, hope, and devotion.
She never met a stranger. Whether in a grocery store aisle, a church pew, or a waiting room, Carolyn had a gift for turning simple encounters into meaningful conversations. Her kindness was effortless, her smile disarming, and her ability to make others feel seen and valued was one of her greatest blessings.
An animal lover through and through, Carolyn cherished her pets and treated them as part of the family. They brought her comfort, companionship, and joy throughout her life.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Tom Gaumnitz, Sr.; son, Thomas G. Gaumnitz, Jr.; parents, Paul Owens and Ruby Ellis; brother, Leon Owens; and sister, Jeanette Cook.
Those left to love and cherish her memory are her daughter, Sheila Parks (Jack); granddaughters, Suzanne Gaumnitz, Jennifer Shurtz, and Melissa Brooks; grandson, Brett Parks (Courtney); great granddaughters, Vivien Gaumnitz and Marilyn Parks; great grandsons, Jonathan Shurtz and Jonah Parks; sister-in-law, Mary Owens, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and loved ones.
Carolyn leaves behind a lifetime of memories that will continue to echo in the hearts of those who loved her. Her energetic spirit, her faith-filled voice, and her boundless warmth will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
