Funeral services for Mrs. Carolyn Graham Whitfield. ,89, of Monroe, LA will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, July 5, 2025, in the Chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, Sterlington Rd. Monroe, with Rev. John Mabray officiating. Interment will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Visitation will be from 12:00 P.M. until time of service at Mulhearn Funeral Home.

Carolyn Graham Whitfield was born in Downsville, Louisiana to Lavern and Verma Averitte Graham on January 1, 1936.

She attended Georgia Tucker Elementary and graduated from Neville High School in 1954. She attended Northeast Louisiana University and married Mark Whitfield in 1955.

Carolyn worked at St. Francis Hospital in Medical Records for 20 years. She left St. Francis in 1974 to begin her lifelong career as Dr. John Cooksey's office manager. She continued in that role for 45 years, retiring in 2020 at the age of 84.

While working for Dr. Cooksey, she began her love for politics when he ran and was elected to the United States Congress. She enjoyed her active role in his successful campaigns and was also an active member of the Republican Women's organization. She was fortunate to accompany Dr. Cooksey and his team to Africa to do mission work.

Carolyn loved Neville High School was a member of the NAFA Board for many years. She loved planning her class reunions and also attended many football games over the years.

She loved to travel and taught her family the love of travel as well. You could call her at a moment's notice and ask her to go anywhere in the world. Her response would always be, “When are we leaving?”

She was so proud of her family. She was lovingly known as CC to all. She never missed an Award's Day, school play, or Grandparent's Day. She also attended every t-ball, baseball, softball, and soccer game as well as many dance recitals. She was the best motivator, cheerleader, encourager, and always positive!

Carolyn cherished her many friends and the times they spent eating out and attending birthday lunches. She was a member of First Monroe Baptist Church. Carolyn will be remembered as a loving mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a wonderful friend to many. To know her was to love her!

Carolyn passed away peacefully at the age of 89 at the Gardens at Georgia Tucker surrounded by her family, friends, and caregivers on June 27, 2025.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her step-father Nick Conti Jr., step-brother Nick Conti III, step-sister Virginia Conti Williams, and special friend Mr. H.M. Butler.

She is survived by her daughter Lisa Whitfield Herlevic and husband Rick, her granddaughter Amy Herlevic Weaver and husband Michael, great-grandchildren Benjamin Michael Weaver and Catherine Elizabeth Weaver, step-sister Sara Conti Ouillette, and numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, andspecial friends Linda Reeves, Ruth Russell, and Pete Caston.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to Gladys Cheffin, the staff and caregivers at the Gardens at Georgia Tucker, the staff and caregivers at Serenity, and to Allegiance Hospice who all took such wonderful care of our mother and CC.

Pallbearers will be Marty Herlevic, Dr. Vincent Herlevic, Stephen “Tank” Hill, Jeff Liner, Tom Scurria, and Michael Weaver.

Honorary pallbearers will be Steve Ashcraft, Pete Caston, JC Chapman, Chris Conti, Todd Conti, Mike Husted, Pat McGuire, Donald Reeves, Terry Reeves, Thomas Scurria, and Jeff Tannehill.

Memorials may be made to First Monroe Baptist Church, Neville High School, Jesus the Good Shepherd School, the Humane Society, or the charity of your choice.
