Mrs. Takewell was born October 3, 1955, in Arkansas, to Freddie P. and Janett Crain Wingo. She passed away suddenly and unexpectedly in true Big Mama style, April 5, 2023, in West Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Takewell enjoyed bowling, crochet, crossword puzzles, fishing, grocery shopping, reading all the labels on all items, Walmart cruising making sure she went down each and every isle at least twice. She also enjoyed sitting on her porch at her camp. She loved nothing more than drinking coffee and smoking cigarettes.

Cath Jean became “Big Mama” with the birth of her first grandchild, Fisher. Big Mama was the center of attention everywhere she went. She was the life of the party. She looked forward to being at all her Big Mama kids’ activities and accomplishments. Big mama shocked everyone she met with her crazy antics. If you met her, you couldn’t help but love her.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Freddie P., and Janett Wingo; grandparents, Fred and Eula Wingo, and Ed and Gussie (Big Mama) Crain.

Survivors include her husband of 47 years, John Paul Takewell of Monroe, LA; children, Jennifer Takewell of Monroe, LA, Penny and husband Joey Moran of Start, LA, and Jessica and Joe Chambless of Monroe, LA; grandchildren, John-Fisher Carpenter, Payton Grubbs, Lake Maree Carpenter, Kori M’Lynn Hicks, Allyson Chambless “Aly Cat”, Kaylee Bug Chambless, and Aubree Lynn; great grandson, Grayson Moore; sisters, the remaining Golden Girls: Blanch aka Susan Wingo of Monroe, LA, Dorothy aka Marilyn Peacock of Girard, LA; beloved brother-in-law, A.H. aka Roy Peacock of Girard, LA; as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
