Memorial services celebrating the life of Mr. Charles Patrick Curtis, 82, of Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 3 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2026, at New Iona Presbyterian Church in West Monroe, Louisiana with Rev. Lane Thompson officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home of Monroe, Louisiana.

Mr. Curtis was born on June 20, 1944, in Austin, Texas and passed away on September 13, 2026, in Monroe, Louisiana. He graduated from Rockdale High School in Rockdale, Texas in 1962, then attended Austin College. He served honorably in the U.S. Marine Corps as an intelligence clerk during Vietnam, and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in History from the University of Texas in 1975.

Pat and Christie married in 1969, and they lived together for over 56 years. Pat worked for the U.S. Postal Service, and he served as assistant postmaster in Monroe, Louisiana, then postmaster in both Jena and Delhi, Louisiana. He was an early adopter of computers in business management, and he never stopped learning. He was dedicated to personal and professional growth, leading well, and teaching leadership and management skills to others.

Pat was an active church leader; serving as deacon, session member, and choir member for Westminster, Graceminster, and New Iona Presbyterian churches. His favorite pastime was watching University of Texas Longhorns football. Otherwise, his hobbies were his children and grandchildren. He might be found at a band concert, a choir performance, a booth selling Girl Scout cookies, a theatre rehearsal, a soccer game, a volleyball tournament, a track meet, or coaching at a basketball practice. He enjoyed photography, smoking brisket, baking, and Bluebell vanilla ice cream. His bright smile and deep voice will be dearly missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Curtis is preceded in death by his parents, Milton Bishop and Sue Grace Cooley Curtis and by his sister, Sally Grace Curtis.

Survivors include his wife, Christie Smith Curtis; son, Jay Curtis and wife, Karla; daughters, Caitlin Curtis and Kierstin Curtis and husband, Brandon; grandchildren, Sabrina Curtis Bromley and husband, Hayden, and Wesley Curtis; his brother, Timothy Curtis; his sister, Susan Tuttle; and several nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until service time on Friday, September 18, 2026, at New Iona Presbyterian Church. Memorial gifts may be made to New Iona Presbyterian Church.
