Charles Brady “Chuck” Dunaway, 68, of Monroe, Louisiana, passed away on December 4, 2025, following a lengthy illness. Born August 26, 1957, in Hollandale, Mississippi, Chuck was a longtime resident of Monroe. He also spent many years along the Florida Panhandle, South Florida, and over 10 years on Malapascua Island in Cebu, Philippines.
Following in the footsteps of his father and mother, Chuck built a career in hospitality and business. In Deland Florida, he owned and operated Western Sizzlin Steak House. After several years there, he relocated to Cebu and became active in manufacturing while serving as the owner/operator of the Purple Snapper Dive Resort and Restaurant on Malapascua Island. Chuck was a member of Brent Baptist Church in Pensacola, FL before relocating back to Monroe.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father, Charles W. Dunaway, and his brother, Stuart Gordon Dunaway and his paternal grandparents, Odell and Hester Dunaway and maternal grandparents Henry and Ethel Goodman.
He is survived by his mother, Virginia G. Dunaway of Monroe, LA; his sister, Carol D. Smith of Monroe, LA, and her husband, Gardner; his son, Dr. Paul Dunaway of Memphis, TN, and his wife, Kristi; and his grandchildren, Tucker Dunaway and Julie Dunaway. Close cousin, Debbie Dunaway Berwind of Gallatin, TN, Special lifelong friends, Gus Mohammed, Belzoni, MS and Ian Banagan, Tampa, FL. Special thanks to ACG Hospice, Haven Home Health and the many nurses and doctors at St. Francis Medical Center,
Memorial service to be held at the First Baptist Church in Glen Allan, Mississippi and followed by Graveside services at the cemetery next to his mother’s family home on January 24, 2026 at 2:00PM
