Funeral service for Mr. Charles Raymond Horne, 84, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00AM Wednesday, October 19, 2022, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Thang’wa officiating. Private family graveside service will be at St. Matthew Mausoleum under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe.
Mr. Horne passed away on Sunday, October 16, 2022. Raymond was born on November 10, 1937, in Columbia, LA. Raymond was a graduate of West Monroe High School Class of 1956. He attended Northeast Louisiana University, studying Architecture and Engineering. He served in the ROTC. Following his time at NLU he served in the United States Air Force. He retired from Riverwood, International Wood Products Engineering Division. He was a member of Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, where he was a part of the Helping Hands Ministry, Seniors Shepherd Ministry, and SVDP soup kitchen. He also served as a volunteer at the ULM Catholic Campus Ministry for 11 years. He gave generously to the Desiard Street Shelter and St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital.
The family will receive guest from 10:00AM until 11:00AM Wednesday October 19, 2022, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, with a Burial Mass at 11:00 AM.
Raymond was preceded in death by his parents, Charles W. Horne and Ruby Arthurs Horne; and brother-in-law, Bobby Jenkins.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Lewis Horne of 64 years; son, Greg Horne; grandson, Jared Ray Horne; sister, Gwen Jenkins of Mobile; brother-in-law, Stan Lewis; special cousin, Barbara Wallace; nieces, Gina O’Neal, Shonda Lewis, Tiffany Donald; nephews, Tony Lewis and Trey O’Neal; several great nieces and nephews; and three great great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Tommy Tarver, John Southern, Michael Lawrence, Trey O’Neal, Blake Mims, and Warren Perkins. The family wishes to thank Hidden Treasures Respite, Janet and Jamie Williams, special sitter and friend Deborah Kirby, and the VA Wing 2 staff including special nurses Keisha, Andrea, Rose, Alice, and Crystal for their love and support.
