Obituary

Funeral services for Charlotte Ann Eddins Sims will be held Saturday, February 28, 2026, at 11:00 a.m., First Baptist Church, Rayville, LA, with Dr. Justin Clark officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home. Visitation will be held at First Baptist Church from 10:00-11:00 a.m. prior to service with burial following at Rayville Masonic Cemetery.

Charlotte Ann passed away Monday, February 23, 2026, following a brief illness. She was born October 7, 1927, in Rayville, LA. She attended Baylor University, University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) where she was a member of Phi Mu Sorority and Northeast Junior College of Louisiana State University, now known as Northeast Louisiana University. Her teaching career began in 1949 in Rayville Elementary School teaching second grade, where she remained until her retirement in 1980. She always enjoyed her students and faculty friends. A long-time devoted and faithful member of First Baptist Church, she was very active in WMU, Saints Alive, and taught Sunday School for more than 30 years. Her numerous civic activities included Charter Member of Art & Civic Club; Rayville Literary Club; Richland Parish Retired Teachers; Kappa Kappa Iota; Phi Mu Alumnae Association; and Boeuf River Chapter Daughters of the American Revolution. She loved her family, community, and church.

Charlotte Ann is preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, William Luther (Willie) Sims, Jr.; parents William Henry (Bill) Eddins and Charlotte Glover Eddins; brother William Henry Eddins, Jr. and sister Jean Eddins Christian.

She is survived by sons, William Eddie Sims of Baton Rouge (Robert Bernard); Robert Thomas Sims of West Monroe (Kathy); and daughter Ann Sims Fields of Fayetteville, AR (Mark). Grandchildren, Rachel Fields Rivet of Baton Rouge (Josh) and Dr. Matthew Steven Fields of Memphis, TN, (Carol). Great Grandchildren are Joshua McClain Rivet, Jr., Vivienne Ann Rivet, William Henry Rivet, Charlotte Marie Fields and Parker Matthew Fields as well as many beloved cousins, nieces and nephews.

The family would like to extend many heartfelt thanks and appreciation to the staff of St. Joseph’s Assisted Living and Dr. Kyle Bruyninchx and his staff for the wonderful care they showed Charlotte Ann. Others we would like to thank for their sincere kindness, compassion and care to Charlotte Ann are Gillette Anderson, the ladies of Lillie Lauhoff sitting service, Shelby Dunn, RN, Elara Home Care and Hospice of Monroe, and Richardson Medical Center Staff.

Pallbearers will be Dr. Matthew S. Fields, Joshua Rivet, Vic Jordan, Neal Brown, Kenny Harper, Grover Burgess, Lyle Russell and Lew Hubbard.
