Obituary

Funeral Services for Cheryl Younse Martinez, 82, of Choudrant, LA will be held at 10:00AM Friday, June 26, 2026 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with William Edwards officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Olive Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. Visitation will be held from 9:00AM until service time Friday.

Cheryl Younse Martinez was born on December 21, 1943, in Choudrant, Louisiana, and went to her eternal home on June 21, 2026. A devoted homemaker, Cheryl cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cooking was truly her love language—she was the "everyone come fix your plate before it gets cold" type who made sure no one ever left hungry. She also enjoyed gardening, antiques, and thrifting, but most of all, she loved her roses and flowers. Her love for family and the simple joys of life will be remembered by all who knew and loved her.

She was preceded in death by her spouses, Jack Edwards and Scotty “John” Martinez; her son, Tracy Edwards; her parents, Julius and Mary Younse; her sister, Lorene Opiel; and her brothers, Jack Younse and Charles “Dooley” Younse.

Cheryl is survived by her children, Michael Edwards and his wife Stephanie, Jack “Bubba” Edwards, William “Gank” Edwards, and Ronald “Huey” Edwards and his wife Brenda; her grandchildren, Amber Edwards, Alex Magaña (Enrique), Ashlee Vines (Matt), Abram Edwards (Elisabeth), Caleb Edwards (Hope), and Seth Edwards; and her great-grandchildren, Cali Valenzuela, Tristin Mayhall, Iszabella Rodriguez, Zane Magaña, Eden Magaña, Emmy Magaña, Micah Edwards, and Copeland Edwards. She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who will miss her deeply.

Pallbearers will be Caleb Edwards, Abram Edwards, Seth Edwards, Brandon Younse, Matt Vines, and Enrique Magana.
