Mr. Hill was born on March 3, 1957, in Joliet, Illinois and passed away on April 1, 2026, in West Monroe, Louisiana.
Chester, a devoted family man and proud civil superintendent, passed away leaving behind a legacy built on hard work, quiet generosity, and a deep love for the simple joys of life. Before his retirement, Chester led with steady hands and a dependable spirit, earning the respect of everyone who worked alongside him.
At home, his heart belonged entirely to his family. Nothing brought him more happiness than spending time with his grandchildren. Chester also loved to tend his garden with the same devotion, nurturing every plant with patience and pride. He also had a special love for animals, especially his dogs, cats, and taking care of his chickens.
Chester’s days were filled with purpose, love, and the kind of quiet contentment that comes from living a life rooted in family and the land he tended. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him, and his memory will continue to bloom in the hearts of those he loved.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth Ray Hill, Sr. and Frances Marie Hair; and brother, Kenneth Ray Hill, Jr.
Those left to cherish his memory are his beloved wife, Mrs. Millie Hill; children, Chester George “Chess” Hill, Jr. and wife Leisa, Micah Ward and wife, Ashton; Josh Ward and wife, Katherine; grandchildren, Connor and wife Madelyn, Olivia, Scarlett, Harrison, Aubri, Alison, Jase, Baker “Baxter”, Harper, Hudsyn, Halli; brothers, William Hill and wife Linda and Wetzal Hill and wife Melanie; sister, Cynthia Louise Bamburg; as well as a host of friends and loved ones.
The pallbearers will be Mike Axen, Leon Christy, Rodney Coleman, Clifton Harper, Billy Hines, Patrick Kelly, Tim Allen, and Hunter Sharp. The honorary pallbearer will be Wayne Allen.
The family would like to thank the exceptional medical care received from St. Francis Medical Center, Glenwood Regional Medical Center, MD Anderson, Dr. Ghattas at the Highland Clinic, and special nurses Bree and Jennifer for their patience, kindness, and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Center in honor of Chester’s heart for children.
