Obituary

The Mass of Christian Burial for Mary Claudia McGuire, 68, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M. Monday, July 13, 2026, at Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church with the Very Reverend Peter B. Mangum officiating under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Sunday, July 12, 2026, with a Vigil Wake Service at 6:00 P.M. at the funeral home.

Claudia was born in Macon, GA, on June 17, 1958, and passed away in Monroe, LA, on July 8, 2026. She was preceded in death by her father, Bonie Edgar McGuire and favorite nephew, James Andrew Tipton.

Claudia is survived by her mother, Peggy McGuire of Monroe, LA; brothers, Tony McGuire and wife Carol of Loris, SC, and Don McGuire and wife Sherri of Valdosta, GA; sister, Dorothy Tipton of Monroe, LA; nephews and nieces, Mark McGuire and wife Angie and their children, Amanda, Joseph and Thomas of Loris, SC; James McGuire and wife Marlene and their children Hunter, Carley, Kayla and Sage of Winchester, VA; Amber Edelmann and husband John and their children, Benett and Josie of Plant City, FL; and Kelsey McGuire of Kissimmee, FL.

Claudia is also survived by her friends who started out as softball teammates and became lifelong friends of 43 years and who she considered as family, especially Cindy Green, Gail Blackman and Puddin Malone.

She worked in the health care field for 45 years. She was a magnet for people who were in need and she didn’t hesitate to try and help with that need. As Nana always said, “she was a good soul”.

Claudia’s family and friends would like to thank the staff of Ochsner-LSU Monroe and Shreveport for the amazing care that she has received over the last four months. Special thanks to Dr. Katherine Chang, her staff and the entire ENT team, especially Mrs. Rebecca Smith.

Honorary pallbearers will be her best buddy Crosstin Green, along with Dusty Green, Sean Green, and Wayne Green.

Any planned memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or to Jesus the Good Shepherd Catholic Church.
