Memorial graveside services celebrating the life of Cory Alan Turner, 34, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, November 19, 2026, at the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery with Jason Jordan officiating.

Cory was born in Sherman, Texas on February 28, 1992 and passed away on September 14, 2026. He lived at the Pecan Grove Training Center in Alexandria, Louisiana for the past seven years, where he received excellent care. Most of his life was spent in West Monroe, Louisiana, where he attended school at Swartz Elementary, Boley Elementary, Highland Elementary and finally at West Monroe High School, until he aged out at the age of twenty-two. Cory loved music and always had a radio playing in his room at home. He loved going to school and riding the bus, until he got too old to do so. He loved spending time with his family, but watching sports and hanging out with Steve was truly his greatest joy. Steve always affectionately referred to Cory as “Spider monkey”. Although Cory had a special diet he loved to eat.

Cory is preceded in death by his biological father, Mark Allen Turner; his grandfather, Jimmy Ray Nelson; and his step-father, who loved him like his own and never thought of him as a stepson, Steven William Correro.

Those left to cherish his memory are his mother, Leah Nelson Worley (Paul); brother, Josh Turner (Leah) and sisters, Amber Turner (Richard) and Emily Adkins (Jesse); grandmother, Sandy Nelson; as well as a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to Families Helping Families of Northeast Louisiana, 5200 Northeast Road Monroe, LA 71203, as this non-profit holds a special place in the heart of his mother. They helped Cory over the years and are a great asset to the communities and families with special needs children.

Cory was deeply loved and will always hold a special place in the hearts of those who knew him. The family would like to give a special thank you to his special caregivers, his Granny, Sandy Nelson, and Betty Hodge, as well as the staff at Pecan Grove Training Center in Alexandria, LA. Also to his special school teachers, Susan Jones (Swartz), Andrea Zuber (Boley) and Liz Sanderson (West Monroe High School).
