Darren Boyd Ragland was born on September 14, 1963, in Clinton, Louisiana, to William and Henrietta Ragland. On October 8, 2026, at the age of 63, Darren finished his earthly journey and went home to be with Jesus.

Darren earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Aviation and was an entrepreneur at heart, owning and operating numerous businesses throughout his life. He was a man of ambition, determination, and vision, always eager to pursue new opportunities.

But as business minded as Darren was, his greatest investment was always his family. No matter how busy life became, he never missed a ball game, band competition, or important milestone. He understood that showing up was one of the greatest ways to show love, and his children and grandchildren could always count on him to be there.

And Damnit boy!!, he loved the Saints! Darren was a die-hard New Orleans Saints fan whose loyalty never wavered through victories or heartbreaking losses. He and his beloved wife, Cathy, also shared a special love for the city of New Orleans. Whether enjoying the sights, sounds, or simply soaking in the atmosphere of the Big Easy, New Orleans held a special place in their hearts and was a source of many cherished memories.

Darren is survived by his beloved wife, Cathy Ragland; his children, Samantha McGuffee and her husband, Brett; DJ Ragland and his wife, Elizabeth; River Cartwright; William Cartwright; and Hunter Cartwright; and his bonus children, Morgan Crowell and her husband, Jared, and Brad Morrison.

He was a proud grandfather to six wonderful grandchildren: Brodie McGuffee, Scarlett Ragland, Nolan Woodward, Rylan Woodward, Baxlie Crowell, and Molly Crowell.

He is also survived by his siblings, Sandy Long, Charlotte Ragland, and Dennis Ragland, along with numerous extended family members and friends.

Darren was preceded in death by his parents, William and Henrietta Ragland.

Throughout his long battle with Parkinson’s disease, Darren was surrounded by extraordinary love and devotion. His wife, Cathy, stood faithfully by his side, caring for him through the hardest days and quietest moments. Alongside her was Jeanie Jones, whose compassion and dedication brought comfort and support to both Darren and Cathy. Together, they demonstrated a love expressed through countless acts of patience, sacrifice, and tenderness.

The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Stockstill for his compassionate care, kindness, and dedication throughout Darren’s illness.

Darren spent his life showing up for the people he loved, and when he could no longer do so, the people who loved him showed up for him.

His earthly struggles have come to an end, and his family finds comfort in knowing he is now at peace, resting in the arms of his Savior.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, October 17, 2026, from 12:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Mulhearn Funeral Home on Highway 165.

A funeral service celebrating Darren’s life, being officiated by Brother Lindel Stuart, will immediately follow at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home. A graveside service will follow at Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery on Hwy 80, in Monroe.

Serving as pallbearers will be Jared Crowell, Chris Woodward, Nolan Woodward, Rylan Woodward, Mike McGee, and Brad Morrison.
