With deep respect, we honor the memory of David Ray Blackwelder, who passed away on August 15, 2026, in Monroe, Louisiana. Born on June 20, 1957, in Homer, Louisiana, David’s life was marked by an unwavering dedication to his family, his profession, and his faith community.
David was the cherished son of the late Ray Winnon Blackwelder and Dot Dale Blackwelder. Throughout his life, he remained deeply connected to his roots, developing a work ethic and sense of integrity that guided his every endeavor. Known to many as a true workaholic, David devoted much of his career to Industrial Valve, where his diligence and commitment earned him the respect of colleagues and the friendships he so deeply valued. When David was not working at Industrial Valve, he spent numerous hours working on the family farm, Lonesome Dove.
Beyond his professional life, David’s greatest joy came from his role within his loving family. He is survived by his sons, Josh David Blackwelder and wife Nikki, and Chase Blackwelder and wife Harley. David was a wonderful grandfather, known as Pawpaw D, to Wyatt, Reed, Scotlyn, and Auldyn. His affection for his grandchildren was boundless, and he treasured every moment spent with them. His extended family includes his brother, Gary Blackwelder and wife Jacque; brother, Dr. Mark Balckwelder and wife Joanna; and sister, Lisa Blackwelder Mahon with husband Rob.
David also leaves behind his life partner, Michelle Kohlmeier, whose presence enriched his life. Each member of his family and circle of friends benefitted from his warmth, his guidance, and his abiding love.
David was a proud and active member of Christ Church in West Monroe. His faith was a cornerstone of his existence, evident in his daily life and in his dedication to both his church and the community. He cherished his friendships and held his Christ Church Family close to his heart, finding strength and joy among those with whom he worshiped and served.
The mark David leaves on this earth is immeasurable, defined by dedication at work, steadfast devotion to family, and an open, caring spirit toward friends and church members alike. He will be remembered not only for his professional achievements but also for the love, support, and laughter he brought to those around him.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 21, 2026, from 2:00 P.M. to 3:00 P.M. at Christ Church, located at 208 Lincoln Street, West Monroe, LA 71291. A memorial service will follow at 3:00 P.M., also at Christ Church.
David Ray Blackwelder’s legacy is carried forth by those who were privileged to know and love him. As we mourn his passing, we also celebrate a life so generously lived and so fondly remembered.
