Funeral services for Mr. David B. Canal, 54, of Monroe, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. Wednesday, June 12, 2024, in the west sanctuary of North Monroe Baptist Church in Monroe, LA, with Rev. Warren Eckhardt officiating. Interment will follow in Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday, June 11, 2024, at Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe.

David, age 54, passed away at St. Francis Medical Center on June 8, 2024. He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Sam and Grace Canal; and maternal grandparents, Jeffery “Doc” and Dorothy Dean.

He is survived by his two children: daughter, Carlee Lynn Canal and his son, Hunter Reed Canal; his parents, Edna Dean Canal and Joseph Nathan Canal; his sister, Kala Canal Crowe (Todd); niece, Sydnee Crowe Clary (Alex); and nephew, William Bailey Crowe. 

David was a 1996 graduate of Northeast Louisiana University with a Bachelor of Science in Radiologic Technology. He would eventually become the Director at St. Francis Community Health Center. He was so loved and supported by his St. Francis community. He was an active member of North Monroe Baptist Church and had a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. His passion was the Outdoors and he enjoyed countless hunting and fishing trips. He loved spending time with his fellow hunters at Loop Road Hunting Camp. He was the go-to person for advice on guns, ammo, and knives and had amassed an extensive collection. He was excellent marksman. He was the best Dad to Carlee and Hunter always involved in their activities at various ballparks or in the woods. He will be remembered for his kindness and compassion and be sorely missed by so many. 

Pallbearers will be Todd Crowe, Bailey Crowe, John Davis, Rusty Hughes, Jon Lemoine, Troy Moore, Brett Rachal and Frank Williams. The honorary pallbearer is Mack Fife. 


Memorials can be made in his honor to St. Francis Community Health Center or North Monroe Baptist Church.
