A memorial service for Mr. David Purvis, Jr., 41, of Shreveport, LA, will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday, September 1, 2026, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd., Monroe, with Pastor Daniel Goodman officiating. Visitation will be held from 1:00 P.M. until service time at the funeral home.

Mr. Purvis was born February 5, 1985, and passed away August 24, 2026.

David, known by some as “Baby David” and others as “David Jay”, was a devoted father, loving husband, and cherished brother who brought warmth and kindness to everyone around him. An avid fisherman, he found great joy and peace spending time on the water. He never met a stranger and was known for his generous heart, always willing to give the shirt off his back to anyone in need. His compassion, kindness, and willingness to help others will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

He was also proud to have been involved with the Boy Scouts of America, an experience that reflected his commitment to service, character, and community.

Mr. Purvis was preceded in death by his parents, Rosemary and Dale Manchester and David Purvis, Sr.; and siblings, Alisha G. Purvis and Carlos Shane Wroten.

Survivors include his wife, Heather Purvis; children, Lilyanne Purvis, Elliana Purvis, Jaxson Littleton, and Novalee Purvis; parent, Sherri Purvis; brothers, Dustin Wroten and wife Jessica, Edward Purvis and wife Stephanie, and Ryan Odom; sisters, Crystle Kulp and Husband Kyle Kulp, Sr. and Mickey Manchester; bonus mom, Patricia Shelton; favorite aunt, Rena Shoemaker “Nene Ann”; as well as numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Honorary pallbearers will be Kyle Kulp, Sr., Kory Kulp, Colby Chandler, Brent Buckley, Joshua Richmond, Donald Killen and Justin Frith.
