Dean McGregor Brent, age 90, of Monroe, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on May 25, 2026.
A memorial service and celebration of life will be held on June 10, 2026, at North Monroe Baptist Church in the West Sanctuary, officiated by Pastor Warren Eckhardt. Visitation will begin at 1:00 p.m., with the service to follow at 2:00 p.m.
Dean was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, educator, and faithful servant of the Lord. Following a distinguished career as both an educator and real estate agent, he touched countless lives through his wisdom, kindness, generosity, and servant’s heart.
A man of deep and abiding faith, Dean studied his Bible daily and was known by many as a dedicated prayer warrior. He especially loved teaching for the Harold Dickens Life Group class at North Monroe Baptist Church. Dean found great joy in helping those in need, supporting mission work, and sharing his steadfast faith with family and friends. He was also a loyal fan of Indiana Hoosiers athletics.
Dean was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Vance Brent, and his mother, Ruth Marie McGregor Brent.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Margrette “Marcy” Brent; his brother, Gerald Brent; his sister, Janet Rittenhouse; his sons, Greg Brent and Tim Brent; daughters-in-law, Josephine Brent and Jennifer Brent; and grandchildren Sarah Brent, Spencer Brent, Elizabeth Brent, and Madelyn Brent (Daniel Schneider).
He is also survived by his daughter, Sherri Gragg, and grandchildren Christopher Gragg (Courtney), Meghan Gragg, Claudine Gragg, Jeremiah Gragg (Annaliz), and Roseline Gragg; his son, David Hughes (Lori), and grandchildren Kenna and Aidan; and his daughter, Betsy Copeland (Sean), and grandchildren Drew and Aubrey.
Dean additionally leaves behind many nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends who loved him deeply.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Samaritan’s Purse or The Gideons International.
Dean will be remembered for his steadfast faith, compassionate heart, love for teaching, and unwavering devotion to Marcy, his family, and his friends. His legacy of kindness, encouragement, and faithfulness will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
