Dean Griffin

Funeral Services for Mr. Dean Griffin, 94, of West Monroe, LA, will be held at 11:00 A.M., Monday, November 28, 2022, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Jerry Hebert officiating. Interment will follow in Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Calhoun, LA.

Mr. Griffin was born January 28, 1928, in Kingsland, AR and passed away November 24, 2022, in Monroe, LA. He served in the United States Navy, where he served on the submarine tender USS Orion and the USS Vulcan. Mr. Griffin received the World War II Victory Medal, American Campaign Medal, and Good Conduct Medal. He loved archery and competed in tournaments until he was 90. He also loved teaching his grandchildren and great grandchildren about archery, and he enjoyed reading westerns.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Lois May Griffin; his parents, George and Lillie Griffin; grandson, Andrew Ward; brother, George Griffin, Jr.; and sister, Mildred Griffin.

Survivors include his children, Michael Griffin and wife Connie, Debra White and husband Frank, Linda Cannon and husband Jimmy, Karen Browder and husband Kenny, Paul Griffin and wife Rebecca, James Griffin, and David Griffin and wife Lisa; grandchildren, Joshua White and wife Brandi, Jonathan White and wife Taylor, Joseph Aaron Yakimovitz, Jason Halton Davis and wife Maria, Jeremy Griffin and fiancé Davi, Anjela Jowers and husband David, Lisa Sims and husband Kevin, Stephanie McNair and husband Caleb, Isabelle Griffin, Brandon Hatten and wife Brandy,  Britney Caldwell and husband Jake, and April Griffin; nineteen great grandchildren; adopted daughter, Deborah Van Elswijk and husband Arthur and their children, Jadis, Tessa and Sonya; brother, Wayne Griffin and wife Beverly; sisters, Kathryn Sue Leonardini, Jean Smith, and Cathy Miles; and numerous other relatives.

Pallbearers will be Joshua White, Jonathan White, Joseph Aaron Yakimovitz, Jason Halton Davis, Jeremy Griffin, and Kevin Sims, Jr.

Honorary Pallbearers will be his remaining grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Visitation will be held from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M., Sunday, November 27, 2022, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA.
