Funeral services celebrating the life of Mrs. Deborah “Debbie” Meredith Owens, 74, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, September 28, 2026, at Cypress Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA with Rev. Jeff May and Rev. Matt Owens officiating. Interment will follow in the Cypress Baptist Church Cemetery under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

Mrs. Owens was born on October 21, 1951, in Monroe, LA and passed away at her residence in West Monroe, LA on September 22, 2026. She was a loving and devoted woman whose life was defined by her family, her passions, her service to her community, and most importantly her love for the Lord. Debbie was married to her husband, Reggie, for 55 years. Many of those years were spent creating, owning, and operating Owens Contracting Corp and R.D. Owens Construction Inc side by side. In addition to these, Debbie and Reggie also co-owned Trenton Street Golf Course.

Debbie generously gave her time and talents to many organizations, including being a long time active member of Cypress Baptist Church. She was a past board member of the Ouachita Parish Library, was active with the PTA at Pinecrest School, and was a member and former secretary of the Northeast Louisiana Cutting Horse Association. She especially cherished her horses and the time spent around them. She was also a member of the Louisiana Associated General Contractors, NFIB, and West Monroe - West Ouachita Chamber of Commerce. She was an active supporter of the Learning and Outreach center, and had a passion for helping others.

Debbie was incredibly proud of her typing and secretarial skills and could type more than 115 words per minute, a talent that reflected her dedication, determination, and attention to detail. She also had a special love for flowers and birds, finding joy in the simple beauty of nature. She enjoyed the time she spent with her beloved Westie, Gypsy and her gentle giant bloodhound, Bear.

Debbie is preceded in death by her husband, Reggie Owens, her mother, Violet Childers Fuller, her loving in -laws, George Hilton and Edna Ruth Owens, and niece Ashley Andrus.

Those left to cherish her memory are her sons, Matt Owens and Mark Owens and step granddaughter Lauren Freeman Putnam; siblings, Rick Meredith, Linda Meredith Wall and husband Billy, Brenda Meredith Netherland, and Randy Meredith; along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers will be Scotty Waggoner, Randy Purvis, Tommy Kelly, Jason Costello, Michael McLaughlin, and Chandler Putnam.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, September 27, 2026, from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00

P.M. at Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA.

Above all, Debbie will be remembered for her loving heart, generous spirit, and the many lives she touched. She will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
