A celebration of life in memory of Dolores "Susan" Gayle Poe, 79, of Monroe, Louisiana will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M., Friday, April 3, 2026 in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe. The family invites family and friends to share stories and memories of Dolores from 6:30 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Friday.

Mrs. Dolores was born on November 8, 1946, in El Dorado, Arkansas and passed away at her residence on March 31, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, creativity, and devotion to her family.

Susan was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend. She will be remembered for her kind heart, gentle spirit, and the unwavering love she gave so freely to those around her. Her greatest joy in life was her family, and she took immense pride in the lives and accomplishments of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

A gifted and award-winning artist and craftsman, Susan expressed her creativity through many talents. She was especially known for her beautiful sewing, oil painting, and her exceptional skill in porcelain doll making—her greatest artistic passion. Each piece she created reflected her patience, artistry, and attention to detail.

Susan was also a Master Gardener who found peace and joy in nurturing plants and flowers. She had a deep love for all things that grow and bloom.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 42 years, James Poe; her children, Timothy Howard of Lafayette, LA, Lorrie (Dallas) Poe of Eros, LA, Andrew Howard of Jackson, MS and Kimberly (Eddie) Hendry of The Villages, FL. Her cherished grandchildren, Heather (Daniel) Brown, Rachel Poe, Jaysen Poe, Aaron Howard, Vivienne Howard, and Helena Howard; and her beloved great-grandchildren, Cade Howard, Cameron Simon, and soon to arrive Emma Grace Brown.

Susan is also survived by her sister, Debbie (Martin) Mahler of Jasper, Texas, her brother, Dan (Tammy) McWilliams of Warren, AR, her first husband Donald Howard of El Dorado, AR and her nieces and nephew.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Donna McWilliams; her grandson, Timothy Howard Jr.; and her great-granddaughter, Madeline Claire Brown.

Susan’s life was a testament to love, creativity, and resilience. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.
