Donald Gene Fordham

Funeral services celebrating the life of Mr. Donald Gene Fordham, 88, of West Monroe, LA will be held at 1:00 P.M. Friday, June 21, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Dr. Woods Watson and Dr. Mark Fenn officiating. Interment will follow in the Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Calhoun, LA.

Mr. Fordham was born on October 12, 1935, in Jackson Parish, LA and passed away on June 17, 2024. Gene was a member of First Baptist Church in West Monroe, LA, where he served as a deacon. Mr. Fordham was a man of strong faith and service to others. He served in the United States Air Force, serving at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where he was involved in many projects dealing with space exploration and the training of Astronauts. Mr. Fordham was a successful Engineer and assisted in the development of paper mills in South America.

Gene is preceded in death by his wife, La Rue; son, Brad Fordham; parents, Dayton and Lois Fordham; brothers, J.D. Fordham and Sammy Fordham.

Survivors include his daughter, Renee Toepfer (Chris) of Baton Rouge, LA; grandchildren, Jordan Toepfer of Sulphur, LA, and Joshua Toepfer of Baton Rouge, LA; niece, Timpia McCain (Charles) of Chatham, LA; nephew, Scott Fordham (Brenda) of Chatham, LA; and special caregiver, Lisa Sandoz.

Pallbearers will be Chris Toepfer, Josh Toepfer, Scott Fordham, and Charles McCain.

Visitation will be held from 11:00 A.M. until service time on Friday.

Memorials may be made to the Louisiana Tech Engineering Department or to the Louisiana Baptist Children’s Home.
