Mrs. Donna Renaud Aron, 78, of Monroe, LA, passed away on July 28, 2024. Funeral services will be held 3:00PM Wednesday, July 31, 2024, at the Temple B’Nai Israel (2400 Orell Place Monroe, LA 71201) with Rabbi Judy Ginsburgh officiating. Interment will follow immediately after in the Jewish Cemetery in Monroe, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home Sterlington Rd. Monroe. The visitation will be at the Temple B’Nai Israel from 2:00PM until service time.
Donna was born in St. Louis, MO on July 20, 1946, to Harold and Thelma Renaud. She and her family relocated to Mobile, AL, when she was five months old. A long-time Mobile resident, she graduated from Murphy High School and attended the University of Alabama, where she was a member of AEPhi sorority before moving to Atlanta, GA, to work in the insurance industry.
While working in Atlanta, she met the love of her life Carl Aron. They married on February 18, 1968, a marriage that lasted 53 years. They moved to Monroe and had three children, and she and Carl began their dream of building Aron’s Pharmacy. She was a long-time member of Temple B’Nai Israel and dedicated to her Jewish faith. She was also a member of the Temple Sisterhood and the Junior League of Monroe.
She studied dance at an early age and continued sharing her love of dance through choreographing and participating in numerous shows at the Strauss Theater Center including Cottonland Christmas and her infamous Dead Duck Ballet. An avid tennis player and a tennis coach at River Oaks School, she enjoyed playing tennis in numerous leagues and with her Wednesday Night Bayou Desiard Group.
She was a devoted wife, mother, sister, and grandmother, AKA “Foxy”, which epitomized her personality. She was always ready for fun and games, whether it was her annual Fourth of July party, the employee Christmas Party, or even entertaining the Louisiana Board of Pharmacy whenever they were in town. She was always the “hostess with the mostest.”
Survivors include her three children, Melissa Aron Gillum (Scott), Debbie Aron Kennedy (Kevin), and David Aron (Stacey) grandchildren, Aron Gillum, Arden Gillum, Cameron Kennedy, Landon Kennedy, Eli Aron, and Brody Aron; step-grandchildren, Zoee Davis, Kaden Wygal, and MaKayla Graham; sister, Sandra Gandler (Harvey); nieces, Robin Gotlieb, Sydney Sullivan, and Stephanie Morgan (Skylar); nephews, Steven Gandler and Steve Renaud (Vanessa); and numerous great nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be Sam Trinca, Marty McKay, Kevin Kennedy, Mickey Merrit, Van Lee, Steve Renaud, Jon Guice and Bob Cooper.
The family would like to express their deepest thanks to her caregivers, Diane Butler, Ashley Page, Beverly Jenkins, and Pam Robinson, with gratitude also to Elara Hospice and her long-time helper and friend, Renee Johnson.
Memorial donations can be made to Temple B’Nai Israel, St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to animals (ASPCA), or the Humane Society.
