Donna Lynn Guyton was born on December 2, 1947, in Monroe, LA and passed away on May 11, 2025, at her residence. She is a 1965 West Monroe High School honor graduate and graduated with a Bachelor of Education, Master of Education, and completed 30 plus hours after Master of Education at ULM (formerly Northeast LA University).

She left for her heavenly home gently like she lived her life. Her life constantly revolved around loving her Savior, Jesus Christ, and being fully devoted to her family. She was committed to faithful prayer, discipling women, serving others, and genuine Biblical encouragement and edification to all. She always saw the good in everyone knowing that the Lord has specifically designed each one for His glory. She dearly loved her husband, son, grandsons, and her great grandchildren, but her adoration for her daughter-in-law and her grandsons’ wives was so evident as she enthusiastically called them her, “Guyton Girls.” Her love for her sisters was a deep and genuine love that nothing could separate.

Her self-discipline and drive for excellence in all aspects of her life were an inspiration to ones of all ages. She put herself last in all situations which demonstrated a humble life-style. As she was a cancer survivor and battled numerous health issues in her later years, her attitude was always joyous. Since joy characterized her life, she even named her sweet Springer Spaniel puppy, Happy.

Donna and her husband faithfully taught in the youth/student ministry at their home church, First Baptist Church (First West) for 50 plus years. She was extremely gifted in teaching and believed her calling was to equip this younger generation as a middle school teacher in English and History from 1969 till 2002 for 33 years in the Ouachita Parish School System at Richardson High School, Richardson Jr. High, West Monroe Jr. High, and Good Hope Middle School. She personally had a reverence for history and passed that legacy on to her students.

She received a Teacher of the Year award while at West Monroe Jr. High. She and her husband, William, established “Safe Place / Our House” to help runaway teenagers, and they both were instrumental in various stages in establishing a battled women’s shelter currently known as The Well Spring.

She is preceded in death by her parents, JL (Jack) and Lovie Duffy; and great-granddaughter, Kendall Grace Guyton.

Donna is survived by her husband of 58 years, William M. Guyton; son, Duffy Guyton and wife Dawn; 4 grandsons, Caleb Guyton and wife Krista, Ryan Guyton and wife Bethany, Matthew Guyton and wife Abby, and Andrew Guyton and wife Mallory; 2 great grandchildren, Connor Guyton and Bear Guyton; sisters, Myra Burns and husband Don, and Wanda Thrower; nephews, Jake Burns, Johnny Landrum and wife Paulen, Keith Landrum and wife Betty; and nieces, Crystal Holland, Lauren Cascio and husband Adam, Kathy Zemper and husband Eric, Amy Swanner and husband Micheal, and Misti St. John and husband Ben. She is blessed to have numerous great nieces and great nephews.

Pallbearers will be Caleb Guyton, Ryan Guyton, Matthew Guyton, Andrew Guyton, Jay Nelson, Paul Stephens, Herb Robinson, Jr., and James Smith.

Honorary Pallbearers will be the West Monroe Marshall’s Office.
