Dorothy Vigg Moses passed away peacefully on December 30, 2025. She was a cherished wife, mother, sister, Meme, and friend. Dottie was born on May 5, 1941, in Monroe, Louisiana, to Earl and Eloise Vigg. She grew up on the southside of Monroe with her sister, Sandra, where she attended Neville High School, and met the love of her life, John Gerald Moses, her senior year. They married in August of 1961 and moved to San Diego, California, where he was stationed in the Marines. After his time in the Marines, they came back to Louisiana and made a life in West Monroe, where they shared 64 years of marriage and three children, Sandra “Sandy”, John Jr., and Elizabeth. Dottie was a member of White Ferry Road Church of Christ, where she taught Sunday school for many years. She was a wonderful person who always saw the good in everyone and all situations.
Dottie is survived by her children, Sandra and her husband, Steven McClain, John Junior and his wife, Stacey Moses, Elizabeth and her husband, Logan Lewis; her beloved grandchildren, Ashton Day, Mamie Moses, John David Moses, and Asher Bailey; and her sister Sandra Daniel. She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John Gerald; her parents; and her grandparents.
Friends and family are invited to Mulhearn Memorial Park Mausoleum Chapel for a celebration and remembrance of Dottie’s life on Saturday, January 10th. Visitation will begin at 1:30 P.M., followed by a service at 2:00 P.M.
Her family would like to thank the staff at Ridgecrest Nursing Home for their loving care over the last few years of Dottie’s life.
