A private memorial service celebrating Edgar’s life will be held on September 19, 2026, in the chapel mausoleum, Mulhearn Funeral Home cemetery, Monroe, La., with Rev. John Schlottman officiating. Entombment will follow in the Mausoleum.
Edgar was born in Lake Charles, Louisiana on July 4, 1934, and upgraded his address to a heavenly home on September 13, 2026.
Survivors include his wife of 54 years, Kathryn Landry; one daughter, Valerie Ruth Landry Sivil [Jimmy], Houston, Texas; two stepsons, Frank Thaggard [Kathy], Cleveland, Tennessee and David Thaggard [Paula], Inlet Beach, Florida; one brother, Winston Landry [Pat] West Monroe, Louisiana; three sisters: Margaret Hernandez [Lloyd], Lafayette, Louisiana; Theresa Cormier, Dallas, Texas and Ena Simon, Lake Charles, Louisiana; three grandchildren, nine step grandchildren, and six step great grandchildren.
Mr. Landry was co-owner of Ira’s Ladies and Children’s Clothing Store in Monroe from 1975 until its closing in 2010, and had been a resident for the last 57 years,
Mr. Landry was an avid hunter, fisherman, sports fan and an excellent golfer.
Edgar will be remembered as a man who loved his family, his friends and life. He will be missed by all.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the charity of your choice.
