Elizabeth Ann "Libbye" Townsend

Graveside Services for Elizabeth Ann “Libbye” Townsend, 84, of Eros, LA, will be held at 10:00 A.M., Saturday, June 15, 2024, at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Calhoun, LA, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe, LA, with Rev. Dale Mercer officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M., Friday, June 14, 2024, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.

Libbye was born May 26, 1940, in Monroe, LA, and passed away June 11, 2024, at her residence in Eros, LA. 

Libbye was a very active member of Clark Springs Baptist Church where she enjoyed participating in Vacation Bible School. She was the type of person to never meet a stranger and loved to socialize. Libbye was also fond of line dancing, bowling, traveling, horseback riding, mowing, gardening, fishing, softball coaching, and Nascar. To know her was to love her and she will be sorely missed. 

Libbye was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Blalock Spears; her father, Howard Spears; her sister, Ruby Shepherd; and her sister, Jeannie (Red) Brown. 

Left to cherish her memory are her loving husband, James “Buddy” Townsend; her daughter, Kathy D. Mercer and her husband, Brian; her son, Buz Townsend and his wife, Tasse; granddaughter, Ronda Richardson and wife, Brandy Neice; grandsons, Clif Richardson and wife, Heather Richardson, Josh Richardson, B.J. Townsend, Mark Townsend, and Matt Townsend; great-grandsons, Austen Rex Richardson and Kayden Neice-Richardson.

Pallbearers will be Tracy Posey, Mark Townsend, Matt Townsend, Clif Richrdson, Josh Richardson, and Clayton Donaldson. 

The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Sam Pippens and the staff at St. Franis Calhoun Clinic.
