Elizabeth "Liz" Rankin

Elizabeth “Liz” Brady Rankin, 86, passed from this world into a new life in heaven surrounded by her loving family on August 25, 2023.  Born October 1, 1936, in Parks, LA, Liz was preceded in death by her parents, Ulysses and Julia Brady; her husband, Henry J. “Hank” Rankin; two brothers; Pat and Eugene Brady; three sisters, Norma Brady, Mary Barkley, and Winnie Graham; stepson, Johnny Rankin; and life-long companion, Bobby Jo Freeman.

Liz was a cashier and booth teller with Safeway for over 25 years, primarily at the Plum Street location in Monroe.  Her passion for “junkin” led to her second career in the antique business. Almost every Saturday, she and Hank could be found at garage sales, estate sales, a booth in Canton, TX or the Bonnie and Clyde Trade Days. She spent many years on Antique Alley in West Monroe with booths at several locations.

Left to cherish her memory are stepson, Roger Rankin; daughter, Norma Hines; sons, Danny Collins and wife, Rhonda and James Dyer and wife, Marcy; nine grandchildren; twelve great grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. on Sunday, August 27, 2023, at Mulhearn Funeral Home in West Monroe.  Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, August 28, 2023, in the chapel of Mulhearn Funeral Home West Monroe, LA with Jerry Hebert and Pastor Eugene Brown officiating.  Interment will follow in the Mulhearn Memorial Park Cemetery in Monroe, LA.

Pallbearers will be Steve Barbara, Jory Barkley, John Collins, Jerry Hines, Jr., Ben Hobson, and Michael Mulhearn.

The family would like to give a special thank you to Ascend Hospice and particularly her care takers, Annette Branco, Kristin Ricard and LaTisha Powell for the loving care and support they showed to the family during this time.
