Funeral services celebrating the life of Emily Anna Hodnett Socha, 88, of West Monroe, Louisiana will be held at 10:00 A.M., Friday, November 15, 2024 at St. Paschal’s Catholic Church, under the direction of Mulhearn Funeral Home, with Fr. Mike Thang’wa officiating. Visitation will be held from 5:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M., Thursday, November 14, 2024 at Mulhearn Funeral Home, West Monroe with a vigil being read at 6:00 P.M.
Mrs. Socha was born on October 3, 1936, in Alexandria, Louisiana and passed away on November 11, 2024, in Monroe, Louisiana.
Emily was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, daughter, sister, and friend who loved her family fiercely. She worked at Hibernia Bank for many years before her retirement. Emily was a member of St. Paschal’s Catholic Church, the Monroe and West Monroe Senior Center Bridge Group, and the Old Lady Pokeno Group. She was the most loving and supportive mother of her six children who are each other’s best friend’s. Emily loved to play any and all games. She enjoyed her children’s company including a weekly date with her son, reading, bird watching, traveling, playing bridge, and was a number one jeopardy fan.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Socha; parents, William and Zula Hodnett; son, Jeff Socha; grandson, Caden Socha; sisters, Judy Pytel and Betty Pytel, and brother, William “Bill” Hodnett.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Annette Corbin and her husband, Mark, Deborah McGee and her partner, Wydette Ramey, Kathy Schaff and her husband, Karl, Lynn Reardon and her husband, David, and Scott Socha; thirteen grandchildren; and thirteen great grandchildren.
Pallbearers will be Timothy Socha, Jonathan Socha, Cody Schaff, Ryan Moore, Brandon McGee, and Michael Schaff. Honorary pallbearers will be Aiden Lowery, Noah Lowery, and Jack Socha.
In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the Northeast Louisiana Food Bank.
